Job summary

WVRC Waukesha is seeking a Veterinary Technician specialized in Neurology to join our 1st shift team. You’ll perform nursing care, assist with surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and communicate with clients to provide compassionate updates.

We value teamwork, ongoing training, and professional growth within a leading emergency and critical care hospital. Experience with anesthesia and surgical support is ideal; CVT is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• At least two years of technical experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Experience with restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and general nursing care.
• Ideally, experience with anesthesia monitoring and recovery, sterile scrub, and assisting with surgical procedures.
• The ability to lift and restrain patients up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A collaborative approach, a commitment to patient care, and a passion for veterinary medicine.
• CVT preferred but not required!

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care, including patient restraint, phlebotomy, and catheter placement.
• Advocate for patients and assist doctors during surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery using equipment such as EKG, SpO₂, and Doppler monitors, and perform sterile scrub as needed.
• Communicate with clients by phone and in person, answering questions, providing updates on their pet’s condition, and following up after visits.
• Explain complex neurological conditions with compassion, patience, and professionalism.
• Collaborate with colleagues and build lasting relationships with clients and the community.

Location: Waukesha, WI
Schedule: Full Time | 1st Shift | 4 Ten Hour Shifts Per Week | No Weekends and No On Call!
Compensation: $25/hr + Dependent On Experience

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:
