Job summary

Petco in Torrance, CA is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide excellent care for Vetco Total Care patients and outstanding service to their owners. The role supports veterinarians, assists with procedures, and helps maintain medical records and hospital operations.

The ideal candidate will have credentialed vet tech credentials, at least 1 year of practice experience, and strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must be credentialed veterinary technician in the state.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player open to learning.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record history in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, process lab samples, handle medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, manage inventory and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and discharge as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments incl. injections, IV therapies, and basic care.
• Participate in training of new staff and share knowledge.
• Keep hospital environment clean and maintained.
