Job description

Eastside Animal Hospital is located in Athens, AL, and has been serving the community for 14 years. We are a full-service animal hospital providing veterinary care to dogs and cats and offer services such as routine medical, surgical, advanced, and routine dental care. Common surgeries we perform include ortho and soft tissue surgeries. Our doctors have dental radiography, an in-house lab, and a fully stocked pharmacy. We also have a swimming pool, offer boarding with luxury suites, and doggie daycare.

As a Receptionist, you will:

1. Receive and make calls to clients for scheduling appointments.
2. Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm, organized manner.
3. Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, including referral documentation and medical histories.
4. Assist clients by providing instructions, information, invoices, dispensing prescriptions as directed by veterinarians, and scheduling future appointments.
5. Use hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and team members.
6. Manage the hospital's financial transactions, ensuring accurate balances and following cash handling procedures.
7. Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with clients.
8. Educate clients on pet health, preventative care, and hospital services to advocate for pets.
9. Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates.
10. Show empathy and compassion towards clients and pets.

Additional requirements include:

• Proficiency with standard office equipment.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures.
• Flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays.
• Experience with veterinary software is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and accept direction.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Critical thinking skills to analyze situations and solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good judgment, and stress management.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay range of $15.00-$18.00/hour based on experience.
