National Veterinary Associates offers externship opportunities for veterinary students, providing hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment. Students will develop practical skills working with experienced veterinarians while receiving mentorship and professional development in animal care.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Each NVA hospital is unique, but all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations at Gentle Care Animal Hospital typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are available for veterinary students in their clinical year.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view the stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
