Job summary

University of Minnesota is seeking a Clinical Lead for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to supervise daily technical operations across multiple services. You will oversee staff, equipment, and facilities, while ensuring adherence to infection control and safety policies.

Qualifications

• LVT licensed in Minnesota.
• BA/BS plus at least five years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least nine years within a veterinary care environment.
• Knowledge of veterinary medicine terminology, knowledge of proper restraint and handling of animals.
• Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry; working knowledge of equipment used in a veterinary teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Serve as clinical lead for multiple services, equipment, personnel, and space upkeep.
• Hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, assign work, and manage grievances.
• Cover emergent shifts when needed and review service finances (AR, OT, expenses).
• Recommend cost savings and increase volumes; evaluate position control before hiring.
• Oversee infection control and sanitation; mentor Supervisor 1 roles.
• Oversee and develop staff training, onboarding, and compliance with health/safety policies.
• Coordinate staff schedules, employee development, and probationary reviews.
• Provide backup for team members and participate in daily rounds.
