Job summary

The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician to provide daytime ICU coverage and comprehensive clinical support in a fast-paced academic hospital.

You will assist with patient care, diagnostics, and client education while collaborating with faculty, residents, interns, and students. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and teamwork in a high-volume teaching environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed VT in Minnesota with 1+ year of experience.
• Graduate of AVMA-accredited VT program.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer-service abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care and technical support for hospitalized patients.
• Document observations, vital signs, and assessments.
• Assist CPR and lab sample collection and processing.
• Place and manage IV catheters; administer meds and fluids.
• Perform nursing care, suctioning, and monitoring under DVM.
• Assist with radiographic positioning and image acquisition.
• Maintain medical records and billing documentation.
• Collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to coordinate care.
