Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant to support our neurology service. You will provide nursing care to stable patients, assist with discharge and medication refills, and educate clients while communicating histories to the clinician.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients per hospital standards and core values.
• Discharge patients, perform callbacks, and refill medications.
• Educate clients and gather histories for clinicians.
• Perform physical exams and monitor heart rate, respiration, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temp, and other vitals.
• Set up IV fluids and operate IV pumps; troubleshoot pump errors.
• Restrain patients during exams and diagnostics.

As a Neurology VeterinaryAssistant,you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Discharge, perform call backsand refill medications
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician
• Perform physicalexam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumpsand cantroubleshoot errors.
• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
