Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tampa, FL seeks a dedicated Neurology Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced specialty team. You will provide nursing care to stable patients, discharge and refill medications, educate clients, perform physical exams, monitor vital signs, assist with venipuncture, IV fluids, and restrain patients during exams and diagnostics.

This position offers hourly pay between $17.00 and $25.00, a competency-based advancement path, pet and professional insurance, paid time off,

Qualifications

• Experience providing nursing care to veterinary patients.
• Ability to educate clients and gather histories for clinicians.
• Familiarity with vital signs and basic monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Discharge, perform callbacks and refill medications.
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating to the Clinician.
• Perform physical exams; monitor heart rate, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, and respiration.
• Understand normal vital parameters; count and record vitals.
• Assist with venipuncture and IV fluid administration.
• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

We strive to provide state-of-the-art services to our patients and clients. We are very proactive in supporting our technician team to advance their careers. We have many specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. Applicants should have a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and ambition to work in a fast-paced team environment.

As a Neurology Veterinary Assistant, You Will

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Discharge, perform call backs and refill medications
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
• Set up intravenous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
