Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tampa, FL is seeking an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team. You will provide nursing care to stable patients, assist with IV placement, monitor vital signs, discharge patients, perform callbacks, and educate clients under clinician supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Discharge, perform call backs and refill medications.
• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician.
• Perform physical exam; monitor heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters.
• Assist with IV placement and venipuncture.
• Set up intravenous fluids and operate IV fluid pumps.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Assistant.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

We strive to provide state‑of‑the‑art services to our patients and clients. We are very proactive in supporting our technician team to advance their careers. We have many specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. Applicants should have a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and ambition to work in a fast‑paced team environment.

As a Neurology Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values

• Discharge, perform call backs and refill medications

• Client education, gathering histories and communicating that to the Clinician

• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

• Understand normal vital parameters

• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture

• Set up intravenous fluids.

• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
