Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients, and ensure a safe hospital environment. The role covers preparing procedures, maintaining medical charts, and monitoring hospitalized pets in compliance with state practice acts.

Candidates should have NAVTA certification or equivalent, a high school diploma, and at least one year of related experience. Weekend/evening hours and safety protocols are part of the job.

Qualifications

• NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year related experience preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old for radiography duties
• Must be able to perform NAVTA-level skills as needed

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure quality pet care
• Educate clients about pet health, services, and wellness plans
• Maintain complete and accurate medical charts and history
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs
• Assist with procedures and surgeries as applicable; monitor hospitalized pets
• Mentor paraprofessionals and contribute to a collaborative hospital environment
