Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, educate clients on pet health, and maintain a safe hospital environment. You will gather patient histories, chart medical records, and assist with procedures while following state regulations.

Qualified candidates have NAVTA training or equivalent, are 18+, and bring customer-service experience. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and ongoing client education within a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA approved Veterinary Assistant program, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related experience required with customer service preferred
• Reads, writes and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, style and vocabulary.
• Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure quality pet care.
• Communicate with veterinarian, veterinary technicians and all other associates to maintain the flow of patients.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times; perform procedures as allowed.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and staff by using safe restraining techniques and maintaining clean treatment areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
