Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is seeking a SSVF Housing Navigator in Durham, NC. The role focuses on building relationships with landlords, aiding veterans enrolled in HUD VASH and HUD VASH-SSVF to secure safe, permanent housing, and coordinating supportive services.

You will engage landlords, facilitate housing placements, and support veterans through the housing process, including documentation and accessing PHA resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with landlords to locate housing for veterans.
• Develop outreach materials and landlord agreements to secure rental units.
• Match veterans with appropriate housing options and coordinate tenant-landlord processes.
• Maintain landlord contacts and a current housing database.
• Participate in HUD VASH case management team and team meetings.
• Assist HUD VASH veterans with coordination of supportive services to maintain housing.
• Ensure compliance with agency policies and COA regulations.
