Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) at the Lexington VA Medical Center is seeking a Transportation Assistant. The role supports patient travel coordination, data collection, and scheduling, reporting to the Mobility Manager.

You will help streamline operations and ensure timely transportation for Veterans. Responsibilities include managing appointments, maintaining records, and generating reports while coordinating with clinic staff.

Qualifications

• Selective Placement Factor: experience in customer service with diverse customers.
• At least one full year of specialized experience at GS-5 level or equivalent.
• Experience must be documented with job title, duties, dates and hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Performs work involving management of appointments and admissions scheduling.
• Daily data collection and tracking for the Veteran Transportation Service.
• Enter data into automated tracking systems and ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate service practices to reduce waits and delays for patients.
• Plan and manage day-to-day operation of VTS program flow.
• Provide support services for electronic records management and driver scheduling.
• Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
