Job summary

InteCare is seeking a frontline staff member to support Veterans in the SSVF program at the Indianapolis Veteran Service Center. The role requires in-person engagement, handling referrals, and assisting with eligibility workflows to connect Veterans with housing and supportive services.

The position entails coordinating walk-in and hotline coverage, collecting required documentation, and ensuring accurate HMIS data and program orientation.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of local community resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to engage with Veterans in distress.
• Experience with front-line service, intake, or caseworker support is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Answer the hotline and manage referrals during assigned business hours.
• Provide in-person support at the Veteran Service Center for Veterans seeking assistance.
• Serve as primary backup to the Intake Coordinator during planned/unplanned absences and assist with the intake queue.
• Coordinate VSC walk-in coverage and hotline responsibilities to ensure timely access for Veterans.
• Collect documentation from Veterans entering the SSVF program.
• Provide initial orientation to the SSVF program and explain rights, responsibilities, and program basics.
• Access HMIS to determine eligibility for InteCare’s Veteran services programs.
• Document all calls and referrals in the InteCare SSVF Portal for data purposes.
• Maintain confidentiality of all program participants and support continuous improvement.
