Job summary

JVS SoCal is seeking an Intake Specialist for the SSVF program to assess veterans and their families for eligibility and refer to resources. This in-person, community-based role supports the Greater Los Angeles area with a client-driven approach and teamwork to meet unit goals.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in social work or related field, strong communication skills, and experience with case management and housing navigation.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Social Work, Career Counseling, or related field; substitution allowed.
• Four years of case management or housing navigation experience may substitute for education.
• Must have passion for working with Veterans.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Must be available for some evenings and weekends.
• Preference for background in homeless services and veteran programs.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group program orientation for clients.
• Recruit eligible veterans in the Greater Los Angeles area.
• Screen eligibility, conduct intake, and make referrals for callers and walk-ins.
• Receive and assess calls, perform intake and eligibility screening.
• Maintain client files and input data into HMIS and databases.
• Coordinate enrollment appointments with supervisor.
• Document referrals and track screening results.
• Attend staff and department meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
