U.S.VETS Inland Empire seeks a dedicated Veteran Service Assistant to support residents in a housing facility. You will help provide basic services, assist with daily living activities, and maintain a safe, sober environment alongside clinical staff.

The role involves documenting bed checks, incidents, and client logs, while fostering a respectful, supportive atmosphere for veterans and staff alike.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the delivery of basic services to veterans at the facility, including shelter, food and hygiene.
  • Maintains a harmonious, therapeutic environment by communicating with clinical staff.
  • Performs bed checks, room inspections and incident reporting as needed.
  • Assists with administrative duties, client logs, and daily living activities.

The Veteran Service Assistant assists in the daily implementation of day-to-day basic residential services.FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptResponsibilitiesAssists in the delivery of basic services (such as shelter, food, hygiene, etc.) to veterans served at the facilityEnsures harmonious atmosphere at the facility by maintaining communication with clinical staff and maintaining a therapeutic community environmentAssists in the delivery/handling of client mailAssists clients with the move-in and move-out from the facilityResponsible for the preventing or de-escalating any verbal and physical altercations from the facility including submitting Incident Reports to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant concerning these eventsResponsible for addressing client issues timely to ensure the non-interruption of servicesConveying needs to the Veteran Service Coordinator or Lead Veterans Service Assistant to maintain supply inventory of supplies and ensures proper storageAssists with maintenance and upkeep of the facility and ensures readiness for inspectionsAssists in the implementation of toxicology testing to promote a sober environmentResponsible for implementation of all safety and emergency proceduresAssist the Veteran Service Coordinator in bed checks, inspections of rooms to ensure a clean, safe and hazardless environmentConducts various administrative duties to include documentation of bed check, inspections, incident reports, client logs, etc.Facilitate routine daily living activities for clientsAdheres to the site work order procedureAssists with weekly cleaning of client room and other common-use areas around the sitePerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalentExperience with programs, client population, similar populations, or other relevant experience preferredGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with residential staffMust promote client-centered philosophy and skilled in creating/maintaining a sober environmentMust be energetic, dedicated to mission and flexibleBasic computer literacyValid driver’s license preferred.
