Job summary

WestCare Foundation is hiring a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist to provide outreach and engagement services to veterans and service members at risk of suicide. The role uses lived experience to build trust, connect individuals to essential services, and promote recovery and wellness.

Responsibilities include peer-to-peer support, navigation of mental health and housing resources, and coordination with VA facilities and community partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in social work, psychology, or human services preferred.
• Must be a veteran or current/former service member with lived experience navigating recovery, mental health challenges, or transitional issues.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer-based support, outreach, and engagement services to veterans and service members at risk of suicide.
• Conduct community outreach and identify at-risk individuals for connections to services.
• Assist individuals in navigating mental health, substance use, housing resources, crisis intervention, and other supports.
• Collaborate with VA facilities and community providers to coordinate services and referrals.
