Job summary

WestCare Foundation in Salem, Oregon seeks a Peer Specialist to join an interdisciplinary team in a Veterans-focused rehabilitation program. The role emphasizes recovery support, goal setting, and collaboration with counselors to promote treatment progress.

You will assist with case management, community outreach, and referrals to essential benefits, while ensuring services align with WestCare’s policies and Zero Suicide guidelines.

Qualifications

• Two years of counseling/therapy or social work experience preferred.
• Experience with mental health and substance use disorders is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, counseling, reintegration, and rehabilitation services to program participants.
• Conduct case management for program participants.
• Coordinate all VETcare Prevents services within the Zero Suicide framework as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with licensing, Medicaid, and WestCare policies.
• Engage in community-based outreach to identify eligible Veterans and their families.
• Assist with referrals to VA benefits and other public health resources.
