Job summary

WestCare Foundation in Minneapolis is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide veteran-focused outreach, engagement, and peer-based support. You will use lived experience to build trust and connect participants with essential services.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, collaboration with VA facilities and community providers, and maintaining confidential records aligned with grant requirements. A high school diploma and veteran status are required, with CPR/First Aid and TB testing

Qualifications

• Must be a veteran with lived recovery experience.
• Excellent communication and empathy with diverse populations.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain WestCare vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to identify at-risk veterans and service members.
• Provide peer-to-peer support and mentorship.
• Assist with navigating mental health, housing, and crisis services.
• Collaborate with VA facilities and community providers for referrals.
• Document interactions accurately and confidentially.
• Participate in trainings and team meetings.
• Support follow-up to maintain engagement.
