Job summary

Jericho Project in Manhattan seeks a Housing Specialist to assist very low-income veterans in identifying and securing safe, affordable housing. You will build housing leads, coordinate with the VA, NYCHA, HPD, and HRA, and ensure timely housing placement and ongoing stability.

You will collaborate with case managers and provide hands-on housing support, including applications, documentation, and navigating housing vouchers such as HUD VASH, Section 8, and City vouchers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; higher degree preferred.
• 2–3 years relevant housing experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and conduct field work.
• Knowledge of NYC housing subsidies and regulations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intakes and assessments for veterans using a Housing-First approach.
• Develop relationships with landlords, brokers, and real estate agencies.
• Provide housing counseling and placement assistance, including viewings and inspections.
• Assist with housing applications and gathering required documentation.
• Advocate with landlords to secure suitable housing for veterans.
• Coordinate resources for security deposits, broker fees, and moving expenses.
• Maintain housing case notes and prepare monthly placement reports.
