Job summary

Apploi is seeking a Housing Specialist to assist very low-income veterans in identifying and securing safe, affordable housing within NYC. You will cultivate housing leads through community partners and coordinate with VA, NYCHA, HPD, HRA, and other agencies to ensure timely housing placement and ongoing stability.

The role focuses on housing-first practices, helping with deposits, moving expenses, and essential housing supports while maintaining detailed case notes and reporting your outcomes

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NYC housing subsidies, rules, and affordable housing programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intakes and assessments using a Housing First approach.
• Develop relationships with landlords, brokers, and real estate agencies.
• Provide counseling and placement assistance, including viewings and inspections.
• Assist with applications, required documentation, viewings, and appointments.
• Advocate with landlords and brokers to overcome barriers to housing.
