Job summary
KIA Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP) seeks Military Veterans with mechanical experience to begin a rewarding career as an Automotive Service Technician at a Kia Retailer. The program is designed to be one-year, competency-based and GI Bill-approved, offering progress toward Kia Service Technician certification.
Eligible Veterans may receive a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) through the GI Bill during the apprenticeship.
Qualifications
- Honorable Discharge from U.S. Military Service required.
- Valid driver's license with clean record.
- Prior mechanical/technical field experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment.
- Willingness to undergo background check and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles (engines, transmissions, steering, brakes, HVAC, electrical systems).
- Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs using Kia procedures and equipment.
- Complete repair orders and warranty documentation per Kia dealership policies.
- Test drive vehicles and verify repair quality with diagnostic tools.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and shop foremen for customer satisfaction.
