Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician for our Vetco Total Care hospital in Chicago. The role centers on delivering high-quality veterinary care and exceptional client service, while supporting the veterinary team.

Responsibilities include assisting with appointments, surgeries, dentistry, and anesthesia, plus maintaining patient records and stock. This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be a Credentialed Veterinary Technician as required by the state.
• At least 1 year of veterinary technician experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, sympathetic and professional demeanor.
• Telephone and computer skills required.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vitals, and document visits in EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Handle medications, procure lab samples, and maintain EMR and inventory.
• Schedule, educate clients, relay test results, manage accounts and records.
• Prepare for procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and assist with discharge.
