Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care hospital patients and provide excellent customer service to owners. The role emphasizes team collaboration, precise record-keeping, and compassionate patient care.

You will assist with exams, procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care while maintaining a clean, efficient hospital environment and delivering a positive experience for clients and their pets.

Qualifications

• Preferred at least 1 year of veterinary practice or relevant animal care experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor under emotional situations.
• Strong telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, obtain weight and vital signs, and record in EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle medications, injections, and IV fluids as directed by the veterinarian.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and maintain records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia and monitoring.
• Perform in-hospital treatments and ensure patient comfort, cleanliness, and nutrition.
