Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. You will support doctors during appointments, surgeries, dentistry and euthanasia, while delivering exceptional client service and compassionate care for patients.

You will greet clients, record vitals, manage the EMR, and help keep the hospital clean and organized. Prior veterinary experience is preferred; strong communication and teamwork are essential. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1 year of veterinary practice or related animal care experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor under stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and animals, record weight and vital signs in the EMR.
• Assist doctors with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Perform patient restraint, collect samples, dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments and educate clients, update records.
• Support anesthesia monitoring and post-procedure care.
• Maintain a clean hospital environment and train new staff as needed.
