Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to deliver high-quality medical care to patients and outstanding service to pet owners in our Vetco Total Care hospital team.

The role focuses on assisting veterinarians, gathering histories, maintaining records, and supporting patient care from intake to discharge, in a busy clinical setting. A compassionate team environment and reliable communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year+ veterinary practice experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, professional demeanor and teamwork mindset.
• Telephone and computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, record vitals and histories in EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, surgery, dentistry, and anesthesia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint and handle laboratory samples and medications.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, and maintain client/patient records.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor during anesthesia and recovery.
• Assist in in-hospital treatments and post-care discharge planning.
• Help train new staff and maintain a clean, organized hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
