Job summary

GSA is seeking a Vertical Transportation Specialist Elevator Inspector to manage the VT program for federal tenants nationwide. You will provide direction to zonal managers, ensure inspections meet codes, and oversee tests and maintenance contracts to maintain safety standards.

The role requires specialized experience evaluating elevators and a QEI-1 certification; candidates must meet federal eligibility criteria and pass a background investigation.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience evaluating vertical transportation equipment for safety, maintenance and code compliance.
• Ability to communicate deficiencies to managers, mechanics and contractors.
• Experience developing specifications and estimates for design, construction and repair of elevators in new and existing facilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensures VT inspection program complies with codes and agency policy; performs ASME A17.1 QEI-1 inspections.
• Oversees acceptance testing and witness/approval of tests per ANSI/ASME A17.1.
• Provides oversight for maintenance contracts and analyzes elevator system data and call reports.
• Acts as liaison between agency and vertical transportation contractors; reviews reports and approves work.
• Supports tracking of VT equipment in an electronic asset system.
