Job summary

GSA is seeking a Vertical Transportation Specialist/Elevator Inspector to lead the VT program for federal tenants nationwide, including Orlando, FL. You will manage inspections, supervise acceptance tests, and guide contractors to ensure safety and compliance.

You will provide technical oversight for maintenance contracts, analyze elevator data, and coordinate with agencies and contractors to optimize service delivery. Citizenship, background checks, and QEI-1 certification are required.

Qualifications

• Specialized federal experience in vertical transportation systems is required.
• QEI-1 certification by ASME is required.
• Background investigation and security clearance procedures apply.

Responsibilities

• Ensure VT inspection program compliance with codes and standards; perform ASME A17.1 QEI-1 inspections and enforce code compliance.
• Witness and accept tests per ANSI/ASME A17.1 including annual, semiannual, five-year, and new installations.
• Provide oversight for maintenance contracts; analyze elevator data and reports to evaluate equipment performance.
• Liaise with contractors on maintenance and repair contracts and approve work and reports.
• Support national and zonal efforts to track VT equipment in an electronic asset system.
