Job summary

GSA seeks a Vertical Transportation Specialist Elevator Inspector in the San Francisco area to lead and oversee the VT program for federal tenants nationwide, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. You will supervise inspection activity, coordinate with contractors, and guide maintenance contracts within the Zone.

The role requires a QEI-1 certification, a minimum of one year of specialized federal experience at GS-12 or higher, and a strong focus on safety, documentation, and data

Qualifications

• US Citizens and National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
• Register with Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/31/1959
• Obtain and maintain a QEI-1 certification by an organization accredited by ASME
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service

Responsibilities

• Evaluating elevators, escalators and other vertical transportation equipment to verify compliance with safety, maintenance, and code requirements; and
• Conveying maintenance, construction, code, and contract deficiencies to managers, mechanics and contractors; and
• Providing technical advice and developing specifications and estimates for the design and construction of elevators in new buildings, as well as for repair, alteration, modernization projects on existing facilities.
