Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to manage direct respiratory care per physician orders and approved protocols. You will provide ventilator support, monitor cardiopulmonary equipment, and ensure proper use of all respiratory care tools.

Responsibilities include evaluating therapies, documenting results, and collaborating with the healthcare team. Requires NC licensure, NBRC credential, BLS, and likely critical care experience for ED/VCU settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associates RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina.
• BLS required per policy guidelines; advanced certifications per facility policy.
• 2 years critical care experience for Emergency Dept./VCU where applicable.
• Advancement follows the Respiratory Therapist Clinical Ladder.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various oxygen delivery modes and equipment.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and explains purpose and benefits.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes plan-of-care recommendations.
• Works independently in patient care areas and assists coworkers.
• Documents therapy and communicates results to the care team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
• Completes annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment.
• Proficient with electronic medical records and interfaces.
