Job summary

Sweetwater Care seeks a Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret orders, assess resident needs, deliver prescribed therapy and evaluate responses within a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities include ventilation administration, oxygen monitoring, airway management and education for residents and families. Collaboration with nursing leadership and ongoing equipment coordination are essential.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma required.
• Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist licensed in the state.
• Current BLS (required), ACLS (preferred).
• Current Finger Print Card Clearance.
• Current TB with the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID card.
• Ventilator unit experience preferred; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants and agencies.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics and education.
• Administers respiratory care including ventilation, oxygen monitoring and airway management.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols and ventilatory support as needed.
• Oversees rehab department management, case management and care planning.
• Coordinates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice; trains staff as needed.
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates respiratory therapy care and life support.
• Coordinates equipment orders, usage and documentation with physicians and staff.
• Develops discharge plans and tracks preventive maintenance for equipment.
• Maintains resident records and equipment records; participates in quality improvement.
