Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to independently perform respiratory care procedures, interpret physician orders, assess resident needs and deliver prescribed therapy. The role functions as consultant, educator, and clinician to clinical staff.

Responsibilities include therapy administration, ventilation support, equipment management, discharge planning, and collaboration with nursing leadership to ensure high-quality care for residents in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the practicing state.
• Current BLS (required), ACLS (preferred).
• Finger Print Card Clearance.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical within the last 6 months.
• COVID card.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers and community.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal guidelines and regulations in current state.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, psychosocial needs and education.
• Administers respiratory care including intermittent/continuous therapy, mechanical ventilation, airway management and monitoring.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, ventilatory support and chest physiotherapy as related to home environment.
• Oversees rehab department clinical management including case management, quality improvement and care planning.
• Manages reimbursement, billing, resident and equipment records within rehab.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and trains staff.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory therapy care and life support for residents; promote efficient operation.
• Coordinate equipment orders and services with referrals, physicians and residents/families; assess needs and appropriate equipment.
• Coordinate communication with residents/parties, physicians and nursing regarding changes in condition and care plans.
• Develop and implement discharge plans for residents.
• Monitor preventive maintenance and scheduled visits for respiratory equipment.
