Job summary

Sweetwater Care seeks a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care for residents in our skilled nursing facility. You will interpret physician orders, assess patient needs, deliver prescribed therapy, and evaluate responses to treatment.

Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway support, and patient education, with collaboration across nursing leadership to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Current BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Finger Print Card Clearance current.
• TB test within the last year.
• Physical exam within last 6 months.
• COVID vaccination/card status.
• Ventilator unit experience required; LTC or skilled nursing exposure preferred.
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, staff, physicians, and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Promotes healing of acutely ill residents through respiratory care, diagnostics, and education.
• Administers respiratory therapy including intermittent/continuous therapy, ventilation, airway management, and monitoring.
• Sets up and uses medical gases, humidification, aerosols, medications, and ventilatory support as needed.
• Supports rehab department management including case management, quality improvement, care planning, and documentation.
• Coordinates with nursing leadership to integrate respiratory care into daily practice and trains staff.
• Assesses and evaluates respiratory care plans and adjusts as resident needs change.
• Coordinates equipment needs and ensures proper documentation of orders and maintenance.
• Develops discharge plans for residents and follows up on respiratory equipment.
