Vehicle Service Lead — Assistant Manager

Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an Assistant Manager in Topsham, ME to serve as second-in-command at the location. You will lead the team when the Service Manager is not on site, ensure safety and compliance, and drive VIP programs to deliver a superior customer experience.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and automotive service knowledge, with focus on training, dispatch control, and maintaining high performance standards. This position follows a 5-day, 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Two years related experience in automotive service management.
• Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current, valid driver’s license in state of residence.
• Equipment Safety Certification.
• ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required.
• ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended.
• ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended.
• State Inspection License Required (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Lead the team in the Service Manager's absence to ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Educate customers on vehicle conditions based on MPI and mileage.
• Enhance customer engagement and SAX score through VIP processes.
• Support development of a superior team and ensure LMS training completion.
• Coordinate dispatching of work orders to technicians following first-available rule.
• Maintain facility, equipment and cleanliness to meet safety standards.
• Ensure compliance with ethics codes and applicable regulations.
