Job summary

Hensel Phelps in San Antonio is seeking a VDC Engineer to support the project team, mentor BIM engineers, and manage model coordination across design, engineering, trades and operations.

You will execute VDC plans, resolve clash issues, ensure model quality, and help align field layout with the overall control plan.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Architecture/Engineering, AutoCAD and Revit expertise, BIM experience, strong communication, and 3+ years in building or design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering.
• Expertise with Autodesk programs – AutoCAD and Revit.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding concepts of VDC or BIM.
• Exposure to BIM systems (Autodesk Revit, Synchro, Navisworks, SketchUp, etc.).
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam.
• Strong personal management skills, dedication, organization, and open‑mindedness.
• Creative thinker with ability to work in a close‑knit environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years in building or design industry.

Responsibilities

• Support projects with field-related VDC activities.
• Execute project VDC Plans and implementation strategies with the Project & VDC Manager.
• Manage and coordinate Architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, specialty and site model components.
• Identify and resolve clash detections, design issues, and coordination/constructability logs.
• Provide quality assurance on model reliability, structure, and content.
• Understand basic field layout principles.
• Enforce coordinated VDC schedule with tracking and notifications.
• Daily involvement with T&D, QPL, and 6‑Step QC Process.
• Produce updates for field technology deployment and align 3D coordination with the control plan.
