Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise the total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (Major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and openness to new theories.
• Must serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of athletic policies and ensures staff implementation.
• Understands system, state and league regulations; interprets them for staff.
• Follows proper administrative lines and attends required meetings.
• Establishes philosophy and designs staff conferences, clinics and meetings.
• Trains staff, encourages clinic attendance and professional growth.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates assistants.
• Maintains discipline and morale; handles grievances.
• Performs other duties assigned by athletic director/principal.
• Schedules transportation and tournament logistics; ensures facility times.
• Corresponds with maintenance and school staff for events and practices.
• Provides documentation for physical exams, consent and eligibility.
• Safeguards equipment storage and usage; submits inventory records.
• Advises on policy changes to athletic director and principal.
• Mentors athletes to promote character traits and academic focus.
• Monitors grades and conduct; guides student athletes in college planning.
• Ensures player safety and proper injury management protocols.
• Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians.
• Determines discipline and communicates with parents when needed.
• Assists athletes in their post-secondary educational choices.
