Varsity Assistant Softball Coach
North Middlesex Regional High School
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a qualified, motivated, and student-centered candidate for the position of Varsity Assistant Softball Coach.
The Varsity Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Varsity Coach and coaching staff to provide a positive, competitive, and development-focused experience for student-athletes. The successful candidate will support the overall philosophy, culture, organization, and development of the North Middlesex Softball Program.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Varsity Coach with the organization and operation of the softball program.
- Assist in planning and conducting organized, purposeful practices focused on individual skill development, team concepts, conditioning, situational play, and game preparation.
- Provide instruction and constructive feedback to student-athletes in individual and team settings.
- Assist with offensive, defensive, pitching, catching, baserunning, and situational instruction based on program needs and the candidate's areas of expertise.
- Support the systems, terminology, expectations, and program philosophy established by the Head Varsity Coach.
- Assist with student-athlete evaluation and development.
- Assist with game preparation, scouting, film review, statistics, and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Provide appropriate coaching responsibilities during contests as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach.
- Promote effort, accountability, respect, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
- Establish positive relationships with student-athletes while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and accountability.
- Assist with appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including locker rooms and athletic facilities.
- Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, coaches, administrators, officials, and opposing programs.
- Support and reinforce the Athletic Department's communication protocol.
- Prioritize student-athlete health and safety and follow all applicable emergency, concussion, weather, and return-to-play procedures.
- Assist with field preparation, equipment, uniforms, inventory, setup, breakdown, and other operational responsibilities.
- Attend required practices, contests, coaching staff meetings, Athletic Department meetings, and other program activities.
- Work collaboratively with coaches throughout the program to promote consistency and student-athlete development.
- Follow all North Middlesex Regional School District, Athletic Department, Mid-Wach League, and MIAA policies, rules, and procedures.
- Perform additional program-related duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach or Director of Athletics.
Qualifications
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous softball playing and/or coaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, rules, strategies, and player development.
- Previous high school or competitive softball coaching experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively teach and develop high school student-athletes with varying levels of experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a coaching staff and support the direction established by the Head Varsity Coach.
- Willingness to assume responsibility for specific positional or instructional areas based on program needs.
- Commitment to creating a positive, competitive, inclusive, and development-focused environment.
- Commitment to student-athlete academic achievement, character development, sportsmanship, and overall well-being.
- Willingness to contribute wherever needed for the success of the overall softball program.
- Completion of all required district and MIAA coaching certifications prior to participation.
- The successful candidate will embrace a program-first approach and understand the importance of collaboration among the coaching staff. The Varsity Assistant Coach should be committed to developing student-athletes, supporting the Head Varsity Coach, and helping build a consistent, competitive, and sustainable North Middlesex Softball Program.

Salary: $1,238 to $1,470 Stipend
