Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a reliable driver to operate a Salvation Army vehicle, transporting passengers to activities and kettle/angel tree sites. You will pick up and deliver donated items, maintain mileage logs, and ensure safety and courteous conduct at all times.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, with two years of driving experience. Responsibilities include fueling, parking, weather considerations, and strict adherence to safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and kettle/angel tree sites.
• Picks up and delivers donated items and other supplies as needed.
• Observes traffic signs and road conditions to ensure passenger safety; parks and secures the vehicle when not in use.
• Logs mileage, fuels the vehicle, and maintains basic vehicle upkeep according to standards.
• Complies with weather conditions, schedules arrivals, and ensures safe, respectful conduct of passengers.

Job description

This position is responsible for:Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and/or kettle/angel tree sites; makes pick-ups and deliveries of donated items and other supplies.Key Responsibilities:Drives a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.Work is performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions during.
