Job summary

The Salvation Army in Greenwood, MS is seeking a driver to transport passengers to Salvation Army activities during the Christmas season. You will also pick up and deliver donated items and other supplies, and ensure safe vehicle operation.

The role requires a valid driver's license, a high school diploma or GED, and at least two years of experience operating an automotive vehicle. This is a seasonal, on-site position with emphasis on safety and timely transportation.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
• Work is performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions during. Dressing appropriately is important for comfort.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:: Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., and
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Driver’s License
