Job summary

Salvation Army in Newport News, VA seeks a Seasonal Driver to transport passengers and bell-ring equipment between kettle sites and to pickups for donations. You will drive a Salvation Army vehicle, maintain mileage logs, and ensure passenger safety in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle.
• Valid State Driver’s License and medical certificate; meet DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Transport bell ringers and equipment between sites.
• Pickup Angel Tree donations and deliver items to warehouse.
• Drive safely, follow traffic rules, and log mileage accurately.
• Maintain and secure the vehicle, report delays and ensure passenger safety.

Job description

Schedule/Hours: Seasonal; schedule and weekly hours as assigned.This position is responsible for:Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers and Red Kettle equipment to bell-ringing locations and to pick up and deliver Angel Tree donations and other items as needed.Key Responsibilities:Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps.Picks up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to the warehouse and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.Drives carefully and complies with traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure passenger safety; parks safely and secures the vehicle when not in use.Fuels the vehicle in accordance with state regulations and The Salvation Army standards and maintains accurate mileage logs.Arrives at destinations according to schedule, communicates severe delays, and maintains control of passenger activities to promote safe conduct.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate in English; and drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and on extended trips.
