Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Seasonal Transportation Driver in Norfolk, VA to move passengers and equipment between bell-ringing locations and the warehouse, including Angel Tree donations. You will operate a Salvation Army vehicle, document mileage, and ensure passenger safety in varied weather and heavy traffic.

Responsibilities include timely arrivals, safe driving, and compliance with DOT requirements. High school diploma or GED plus two years’ driving experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle or equivalent.
• Must maintain a valid State Driver’s License and meet DOT requirements for applicable vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Transport Salvation Army bell ringers and equipment to kettle sites and other locations.
• Collect Angel Tree donations and transport to warehouse, deliver miscellaneous items as needed.
• Drive safely, follow traffic rules, and secure the vehicle when not in use.

Schedule/Hours: Seasonal; schedule and weekly hours as assigned.This position is responsible for:Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers and Red Kettle equipment to bell-ringing locations and to pick up and deliver Angel Tree donations and other items as needed.Key Responsibilities:Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps.Picks up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to the warehouse and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.Drives carefully and complies with traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure passenger safety; parks safely and secures the vehicle when not in use.Fuels the vehicle in accordance with state regulations and The Salvation Army standards and maintains accurate mileage logs.Arrives at destinations according to schedule, communicates severe delays, and maintains control of passenger activities to promote safe conduct.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate in English; and drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and on extended trips.
