Job summary

The Salvation Army in Montgomery, AL is seeking a Driver to operate a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from activities and kettle sites. This role requires a valid driver’s license and prior vehicle operation experience.

You will pick up and deliver donated goods, ensure safety by obeying traffic laws, log mileage, and report any delays. The position requires High School diploma or GED and a commitment to the organization's standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers to and from activities and/or kettle sites.
• Picks up and delivers donated items and other supplies as needed.
• Drives safely and follows traffic signs and road/weather conditions.
• Parks the vehicle in a safe, clearly marked space and locks doors when not in use.
• Fuels the vehicle in accordance with regulations and Salvation Army standards.
• Logs mileage on standard forms and ensures accuracy.
• Arrives on schedule or calls ahead if delays occur.
• Maintains control of passengers by prohibiting unsafe behavior.

Job Location: ALM-Montgomery Al Corps - Montgomery, AL 36106, Salary Range: $10.00 Hourly, This position is responsible for:

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities and/or kettle/angel tree sites; makes pick-ups and deliveries of donated items and other supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drives a Salvation Army vehicle during the Christmas season in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities or sites.
• Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items and donated goods, as needed.
• Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
• Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
• Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
• Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
• Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
• Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
• Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic.
• Work is performed outside in a wide variety of weather conditions during. Dressing appropriately is important for comfort.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:: Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., and
• Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid Driver’s License
