Millersville University invites applications for a Student Assistant – Veterans and Military Resource Center (VA Work-Study) for Academic Year 2026–2027. The role supports VMRC operations, helping veterans and military-connected students access education benefits, campus resources, and academic success tools.

The position is part-time, up to 20 hours per week with flexible weekday shifts and occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• Must be currently receiving VA educational benefits.
• Must be enrolled at least three-quarter time (minimum 9 credits) at Millersville University during the academic year.
• Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.25+ to remain eligible.
• Ability to complete the VA Work‑Study contract while still eligible for VA benefits.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet research.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive student information.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a student-centered office environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain VMRC office space and keep it welcoming and organized.
• Provide information to students regarding VA education benefits.
• Assist students in applying for VA education benefits and submitting documentation.
• Support the School Certifying Official with records and clerical tasks for VA benefit processing.
• Perform general office tasks: typing, filing, scanning, shredding, copying, delivering items.
• Receive, forward, and respond to calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries.
• Support campus outreach to military-connected students at events.
• Distribute information about VA programs and campus resources.
• Refer students to campus/community partners (e.g., Financial Aid, Vet Center).
• Help foster a strong military-connected student community with Veteran Student Organization.
• Assist with VMRC events, workshops, and student programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
