Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Temporary Facilities Maintenance Tech to support campus building systems in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on routine repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam, and fume hoods, with safety and lockout procedures emphasized.

You'll take boiler and chiller readings, participate in preventive maintenance, and cross-train on equipment operation while maintaining accurate records and following safety policies.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic maintenance needs.
• Being able to take direction.
• Must be able to hold tool approximately 10 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation, repetitive motion with arms, hands, shoulders.

Responsibilities

• Take readings on boilers and chillers, report discrepancies, and maintain records.

Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities include:

• Develop knowledge of routine repairs in various trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, steam systems, and fume hoods.
• Repair leaks, check boiler levels, assist with pipe installation, and perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) and electrical/plumbing repairs.
• Follow established procedures for isolating and locking out systems to ensure safety.
• Cross-train in the operation of all building equipment systems.
• Follow preventative maintenance instructions and timelines, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and accurately.
• Take readings on boilers and chillers, reporting discrepancies and maintaining accurate records for all equipment.
• Monitor and adjust chemical levels in assigned systems to ensure proper maintenance.
• Ensure the safety of campus facilities by maintaining equipment and adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
