Job summary

Ebon Energy seeks an Application Engineer – Utility to provide front-end technical support for North American utility opportunities and to bridge between utility customers, the U.S. commercial team, and our engineering and manufacturing resources in China.

This role collaborates with the Utility Business Director and customer engineering teams to translate North American requirements into executable engineering solutions and to support bids, documentation, and technical discussions across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with distribution transformers or power transformers.
• Ability to read utility specs, diagrams, data sheets, and technical docs.
• Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and transformer applications.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI transformer standards and customer requirements.
• Ability to translate customer needs into clear technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review utility specifications and drawings for transformer opportunities.
• Evaluate requirements and configure distribution/power transformers for utility use.
• Support technical evaluation of ratings, impedance, insulation, cooling, and testing.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE/ANSI and North American standards.
• Prepare compliance matrices, deviation lists, and technical responses for RFQs/RFPs.
• Identify gaps and coordinate resolution with engineering teams.
• Review submittals and documentation before customer release.
• Lead or support customer technical meetings and design discussions.
• Support vendor qualification and prequalification processes.
• Coordinate with China-based engineering and manufacturing teams.
