Job summary

The City of Midlothian is seeking a customer service billing clerk to process, manage, and maintain billing for water, sewer, trash, and recycling services.

Under supervision, you will handle payments, respond to inquiries, set up accounts, process fees, and generate reports while safeguarding confidential information. This is a full-time role with a starting salary within the posted range.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes payments and balances daily cash drawer.
• Answer customer inquiries in person and by phone concerning billing accounts and problems.
• Processes new accounts for water/sewer customers and builders, fire hydrant meter requests, and disconnects.
• Process hardship requests and coordinates and monitors payment arrangements for water customers.
• Processes mail including payments by walk in, backflow registration forms, and backflow test reports.
• Processes community service payments for annual permits and fees.
• Initiates and completes all customer service requests.
• Processes monthly late fees, cutoff fees, NSF fees, water shut offs and responds to inquiries regarding monthly cutoff process.
• Receives, researches, and answers customer inquiries and requests regarding accounts, rates, and services; follows up on customer inquiries to assure satisfactory completion.
• Balances cash drawer.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
