Job summary

The Portland Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler for 2 busy surgeons. This 40-hour, non-exempt role in Nursing Services involves coordinating general and local surgeries, handling pre-operative testing, and communicating with patients about preparation and insurance issues.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Day Surgery, hospitals, and medical staff to maintain schedules, handling calls, and ensuring HIPAA and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedule surgeries and procedures in Day Surgery or hospital as directed by the physician using appropriate policies and procedures.
• Schedule or arrange pre-operative diagnostic testing with specific branches or other facilities including hospitals.
• Obtain appropriate insurance information from patients scheduling surgeries and complete referrals, forms and pre-authorizations.
• Educate patients regarding their preparation for procedures or surgery and provide written information.
