Job summary

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and oversee surgical and procedure scheduling across multidisciplinary specialties. You will ensure completion of consultations and preoperative visits, monitor performance metrics, and train new caregivers.

The role emphasizes EPIC expertise and interdepartmental collaboration to promote continuity of care. Responsibilities include coordinating all procedures, ensuring prior authorizations, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience in healthcare registration and scheduling.
• Preferred: Associate degree and healthcare scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-level accuracy in all clinic and patient processes from intake to final scheduling.
• Track and manage patient care and follow up postoperatively.
• Schedule and coordinate all procedures and verify prior authorization.
• Provide concise patient instructions for general and endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain communication with OR, MDU, pre-surgery and other departments.
• Correlate provider schedule to EPIC schedules and resolve conflicts.
• Schedule inpatient and outpatient procedures; respond to inquiries from provider offices.
• Develop and maintain EPIC process knowledge; function as a system super user.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and communicate to leadership.
• Design and deliver surgery scheduling onboarding training; maintain policy materials.
