Job summary

Beacon Clinic Inc is seeking a Patient Scheduling Specialist to independently schedule appointments for our urology practice. You will manage new patient visits, infusion/chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other procedures with outside facilities, acting as a patient advocate within Beacon policies and regulations.

You will coordinate with the care team, interpret orders, and maintain accurate information in the EMR while speaking with patients and providers throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, monitors, and schedules patient care at our clinic and across the patients’ care team.
• Interprets provider orders, schedules according to orders, and obtains approval for changes or cancellations.
• Speak with patients and healthcare professionals for the majority of the day, navigating multiple workflows.
• Act as liaison for patient, communicating with clinic staff and care team to ensure exceptional care.
• Document complete and accurate information in the EMR when appropriate.
• Operate computer, phone, and fax systems for most of the day.
• Back up to other team members as requested.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
• Update job knowledge by educational opportunities and professional reading.

Job Description

Patient Scheduling Specialists are responsible for independently creating and scheduling appointments in our growing urology practice. This position exists to ensure accurate and complete scheduling for patients. Scheduling includes but not limited to new patient visits, infusion/chemotherapy services, radiation therapy services, stat imaging studies, blood transfusions, and other procedures with outside facilities. Scheduling will commence via the telephone, in person or electronically, acting as a patient advocate, responsible for the helping with support service needs, and providing applicable information within guidelines of Beacon policies, state & federal laws/ regulations, and business ethics.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Coordinates, monitors, and schedules patient care at our clinic and across the patients’ care team.
• Interprets provider orders, schedules according to the orders, and obtains approval for schedule changes or cancellations as appropriate.
• Navigates multiple providers and departments simultaneously and is expected to be available to speak with patients and healthcare professionals for the majority of the day. This requires working with several complex scheduling workflows.
• Acts as a liaison for the patient, communicating and problem solving with clinic staff and patients care team to ensure we can provide exceptional care.
• Documents complete and accurate information in the electronic medical record when appropriate.
• Operates on computer, phone, and fax systems for majority of the day.
• Aids and acts as back up to other team members from time to time as requested.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
