Job summary

VillageMD in Newark, NJ seeks an urgent care support professional to assist physicians with patient care, DOH compliance, and patient coordination across on-site facilities. You will escort patients, manage rooming, and help with diagnostic testing as needed.

The role requires high school education, strong communication, and a compassionate bedside manner. A full-time weekend-inclusive schedule and bilingual skills are a plus, with a focus on maintaining a positive, efficient clinical

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED.
• Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner.
• Flexible with full-time work schedule including a weekend day.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• English language (speaking and writing) skills required.
• High attention to detail.
• Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
• Team player.
• Knowledge of third-party payor requirements preferred.
• Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Computer Proficiency.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures (e.g., UA, EKG, lab processing, rapid POC testing, etc.).
• Ensure DOH compliance of site lab and exam rooms (logbook maintenance, expired meds checks, sample handling).
• Escort patients to exam rooms, x-rays or other facilities on site as needed.
• Maintain a fast pace in a busy urgent care facility during shifts (8–12 hours).
• Facilitate diagnostic tests (CT, MRI, ultrasounds) and referrals to specialists; communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians.
• Help maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
• Ensure the site is fully stocked with supplies.
• Provide compassionate care to patients.
